Our Simple & Affordable Bathroom Update

Hi there! I am sharing with you the steps we took to update our main bath on a very low budget. Read below to see how some small changes made a big impact on our main bath.
Here is a photo of our bathroom before we made any updates.
The flooring and paint was the first update in this bathroom but I feel as though they were part of a different project. We knew that our first home was most likely going to be something that would require some updating. New floors and fresh paint at move-in was an important feature to us. In fact, we had these floors picked out for over a year before we found and closed on our home.
We chose a Luxury Vinyl Plank from Home Depot called Noble Oak. Â I love them! We had the new LVP flooring installed throughout the main level of our home before moving in. These floors would be the most expensive part of the update at roughly $150 for an average-sized bathroom of 40 sq ft. I have pasted the link below for reference.
We painted our entire home interior with Marquee Behr in the color Sharkfin. We painted the bathroom walls in this color and removed the towel racks that kept falling apart.
My husband installed a matt black shower curtain rod. We went with a rod that can be screwed into place since this is the main bath and will be used a lot by our children. A simple tension rod just wouldn’t stand up. Our kids always manage to rip these from the walls.
Replacing the bathroom vanity was not within our budget. Someday I do hope to buy a new cabinet but for the time being, we decided to spruce up the existing cabinet using some of the paint we already had on hand. Our living room has a bold accent wall in Behr Marquee Limousine Leather. I decided to get a bit creative and mixed this color with the Sharkfin and came out with a dark grey that matches our floors beautifully. After some very light sanding of the cabinets I applied a couple layers of paint to the vanity and let it dry. Once the paint was set, we added matt black pulls that we bought from Home Depot.
We found a very affordable mirror from Ross and a new light fixture from Amazon. My husband easily switched these out and they really pulled the room together.
Final touches
I used a hanging wine rack in, you guessed it, matt black to display some nice towels on the wall. My guests will absolutely love the luxury of having a clean towel readily available.. Jk my kids will for sure never put these back… 😉 We also hung decorative wooden boxes on the wall to be used as a shelf. These were picked up at our local Kroger store.
And here is our final result..
